Grooming Aprons and Towels embroidered with 'Fight Anti-Pet Legislation. It Affects Us All"

What to do #3: Notify national groups

If the proposal you're concerned about affects all pets, contact all the national pet groups you can find. Don't limit yourself to the pets you own. We've listed several of the best-known groups below, but we don't know about all of them. Tell us about any organizations that might help and we'll list them on our links page.

Contact the National Animal Interest Alliance and see if they know about your problem. Go through their entire site and study! Go to the NAIA Trust site and submit your information to their database (Click on Let Us Know in the menu)

Email AKC's Canine Legislation department at doglaw@akc.org and let them know what's happening. They do more for state fights than local ones and they work through member clubs, not individuals, but keep them informed. They have lots of useful information about fighting laws and about certain kinds of laws. Visit their Canine Legislation website and order the legislative materials. They're free and some of them are excellent!

The Cat Fanciers Association has a very effective legislative affairs department and their website is full of good information. Notify them of any proposed laws affecting cat ownership by writing legislation@cfa.org

National organizations exist for nearly every pet you can imagine. Do a Google search and contact them all. Some, probably most, are not large enough to be able to help you much, but they should be notified as soon as possible. You never know where help might come from.
